Over the past few months I’ve been embarking on more work trips to visit business partners outside of San Francisco. Late last year I traveled to Los Angeles and Toronto, which was quite the jump in weather one week to the next. Right now I’m at a conference in Las Vegas (mostly work plus a little bit of play!) with hopes of more work travel this year. Since I work in the financial-tech industry, I am mostly excited to fly out for external meetings because it gives me the opportunity to dress up a little more than I normally would at my office which usually harbors a more laid back atmosphere. When given the chance to dress up my regular work outfit, I tend to gravitate more towards bold yet classic pieces that are weather neutral, can be adjusted on the fly with accessories, and are casual enough to meet with other tech junkies.
Lately a go-to travel look of mine has been pairing button downs with skinny jeans, topping it off with a nice coat. While home in Seattle for the holidays, I bought this pair of Dolce Vita peep toe booties to transition from the SF chill to warmer temps in the months to come. My quick tricks for feeling a little more put together for a meeting include throwing on a sleek watch and getting a fresh manicure before jetting off. To pack it all up, I just can’t resist a leather weekender bag, it definitely has a more sophisticated touch.
What’s your go-to look for work on the go?
